THE OWO FOUNDATION
OUR HISTORY
Every movement begins with a moment of truth.
The O.W.O. Foundation was founded on one simple truth… creativity should never be enslaved.
When Brandon Lee (Freqish) entered the music industry, he had already built a successful career as a businessman. But once he began studio work, he saw the industry for what it truly was: a modern system of artistic servitude disguised as opportunity.
Contracts designed to confuse, royalties that never reach the artist, and entire careers lost to fine print, the kind of exploitation that has kept creators trapped for over a hundred years.
After stepping away to reflect, Brandon spent the next three years studying copyright law, publishing structures, and the hidden mechanisms that make the music industry so complex…by design.
What began as frustration became a mission: to build a foundation that would dismantle those systems and restore ownership, education, and power to the people who create.
One of his key breakthroughs came while studying the major-label “360 deal,” where artists often forfeit 80–85% of their income in exchange for exposure.
In response, he designed a new 360 model that flips the structure — giving artists 90% financial control while the label acts as a true partner and support system, not a gatekeeper.
This model does more than build careers; it builds lives.
Every artist under the O.W.O. ecosystem gains access to health insurance, retirement planning, and a dollar-for-dollar matching program — creating generational wealth and long-term security in a field that has historically offered neither.
Guided by Brandon’s belief that knowledge is free — pass it on, the Foundation is developing a new educational model through the O.W.O. Academy for Advanced Arts.
Built on donations and a sliding-scale tuition system, the Academy will make world-class creative education accessible to all, regardless of background or income. Each year, it will grant full scholarships to deserving artists, beginning as a certificate-based program and evolving into a fully accredited four-year institution.
In 2026, the Foundation will launch its first global fundraising campaign to bring this vision to life, supporting education, reform, and artistic freedom around the world.
Our vision is simple:
To end creative exploitation, empower independent artists, and create a future where art belongs to its creator.
